After meeting in a beginners class over 15 years ago the Principals of DanceFit, Adam and Jennifer Stone, decided to dance together and have been ever since. In that time they have achieved many personal goals as both Amateur and Professional dancers.
As Amateur dancers they competed as a Ten Dance couple and were National Ten Dance Champions. During their amateur career they were also fortunate enough to be invited to perform at many high profile events. These events included: Performances for the Australian Tourism Commission with David Helthcot and in front of an audience of celebrities including Nicole Kidman and Ernie Dingo, Charity Performances for the Beethoven Society with Geoff Harvey, Demonstrations on the ABC Program, ‘Strictly Dancing’ hosted by Paul Macdermot, Performers for the Mayoral ball New Years Eve Celebrations in 2001 at the Sydney Opera House and Performers on Star Cruise Liners in Thailand and Vietnam.
After many years competing as Amateurs in 2002 they decided to move to England to advance their learning and compete on the International scene. In England, they still competed as Amateurs placing 3rd in the Midlands Championships and Finalists in many other British events. They were trained by many past world Champions such as, Lyn Harman, John Woods, Michael and Vicky Barr, Kenny and Marion Welsh and Len Armstrong.
In 2005 they returned to Australia and decided to turn Professional and compete only in the Standard style, During their time as Professionals they have been World Professional Representatives for Australia in 2005,2006,2008 and Asian Pacific Representatives 2005,2006, 2008, 2009 In 2009 they placed 7th in the Asian Pacific Championships. Like their Amateur career they have been invited to perform at many high profile events as Professionals as well including being cast as the Lead dancers on the Eskimo Joe video clip 'Life is better with you', Lead dancers and Teachers with Seniors week during the Sydney Festival in 2005 and 2006, Lead Dancers in the Austral Bricks 100th Anniversary Celebrations with several dancers form the hit show’ So You Think You Can Dance’.
They have taken a break from competing in order to start a family. In 2010 Adam and Jennifer welcomed to the world their Daughter Alexandra and in January of this 2013 they also welcomed their son Harrison. This new chapter in their life has only motivated them more to return to competing again soon.
Outside of their dancing careers both Jennifer and Adam have been successful in their own right.
Adam is a Plumber by trade and whilst in England worked as a Bathroom Designer for a high profile Bathroom Company. Currently, Adam is the Franchise Development manager for ‘Nanotek’ His role includes training and assisting both Australian and International Franchisees in running and building their businesses.
Jennifer has two degrees, her first in Science majoring in Psychology and Marine Science and the second being a Masters of Teaching both from the University of Sydney. She also has a strong background in Cecchetti ballet, completing all her exams as a dancer to the Advanced level. Up until the arrival of Alexandra & Harrison Jennifer has been working in Primary schools as a teacher and dance instructor.
Both Adam and Jennifer are qualified Dancesport Coaches and have studied Sports Psychology for the past 10 years.
DanceFIT opened its doors in 2006 and recently expanded to a 300 sqm fully air-conditioned dance space.
DanceFit is both a social and competitive studio catering for ages 5 through to 105. There are social classes for the beginner through to advanced for both competitors and social dancers.
For the Kids, we teach them not only dancing but, self-motivation along with self belief. They learn skills in how to interact with each other that will last them a lifetime. For the Adults it a great place to meet loads of people. Dance and Fitness work hand in hand, so you don't even realise your having a workout, the fitness just comes while you are learning a skill that may have thought was never possible
DanceFit is not your ordinary Dance Studio, with classes in Health and Fitness -Tai Chi - Boxing Fitness - Stretch and Strengthening and of course Dancing there is something for everyone.
Adam and Jennifer have Choreographed routines for wedding couples all over Sydney. Wedding couples can leave with a specialty dance and photo pack mapping their progression throughout their lessons, a fabulous thing to look back on in the years to come.
